[Artist Biography]

For almost 30 years, Michael Carlo has lived and worked in the same village in Suffolk, and the surrounding landscape has informed all his work since then. The inspiration this provides does not dim - 'although you make a painting or a print of this road, this hill, this wood again and again over the decades, it keeps changing'.
Carlo first established his reputation through his screenprints, but his recent prints have been woodcuts. These have become progressively more spare - stripped down and raw, exploring the bones of the countryside.
