Ben Nicholson made comparatively few prints, and most of his etchings were made in a few years in the 1960s with Francois Lafranca. His subtle inking of Nicholson's plates gives them with a Spartan richness.
Nicholson maintained that he was not a printmaker, but the beauty of his etched line shows that he was in fact a master of etching.
